Scripture for the Day January 11, 2019

Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. (Hebrews 12:26-27)

If you haven’t noticed, everything that can be shaken is being shaken. It’s time for all of us Christians to ask ourselves, “Do we really believe what we say we believe?” Jesus told us about these days coming. Unfortunately, some will compromise and fall away. Some will conform to the world’s ways to avoid conflict and rejection. But some will not bow their knee to the world and they will get stronger and stronger in the Lord, even as persecution increases.

Listen to the prophecies of Jesus concerning the last days and see if any of these sound descriptive of the times we see on the horizon and even some that we see already happening:

But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. (Jude 1:10)

These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage. But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. (Jude 1:16-18)

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows. But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them. And the gospel must first be published among all nations. But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. (Mark 13:8-13)

Now, that is pretty heavy stuff but we do not need to be ignorant or afraid. We live in a time where the truth is being defined as hate speech and laws are being drafted to actually ban the truth. Churches and believers are being forced to do things contrary to the Word of God. Political correctness has infiltrated the church to the point that certain sections of the Bible are not even taught because they may offend someone.

What should be our response to all this? Well, I don’t know about you but my wife and I are going to press into God harder than ever. My Bible tells me that where sin abounds grace does much more abound. We haven’t seen anything yet. As the world dives deeper and deeper into sin the anointing of God will increase on His servants like never before. Jesus said we would do greater things than He did. We are here folks, if we don’t shrink back and we stay in the love of God!!

The reality is this:

Remember that I told you, A servant is not greater than his master [is not superior to him]. If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word and obeyed My teachings, they will also keep and obey yours. (John 15:20, AMPC)

Our response, responsibility, and promise from God is as follows:

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. (Jude 1:21-23)

And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (2 Corinthians 6:16-18)

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. (Isaiah 60:1)
