Scripture for the Day (December 21, 2015)

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)

I spent a good portion of my life investigating criminal cases and establishing enough evidence so the US Attorney could present our case to the federal court. I was by nature a skeptical and untrusting individual but my law enforcement experience made me even more untrusting. So, when it came to religion, I was not about to listen solely to some loud mouth preacher. I had to have more evidence than that. That began my personal search for the truth.

As I read through the entire Bible (several times) there were certain scriptures (evidence if you will) that jumped out at me that helped prove the case that this Jesus was who He said He was. As we go into this Christmas Season, I want all of us to consider once again some incredible facts and signs we have available to us about Jesus.

There are approximately 353-365 prophecies in the Old Testament about the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. These prophecies were spoken and written by prophets from 750-1000 BC. That is 1000 years before Jesus was even born! One mathematician calculated that the odds of just 8 of these prophecies accidentally coming true in the life of one individual as being one (1) in 800 quadrillion. The odds that 365 would come true in the life of one man (Jesus) are incalculable.

The following are just 12 of the prophecies that were uttered 750-1000 years before the birth of Jesus that helped prove the case to me that Jesus is the Messiah:

1. He will be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2)

2. He will be born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14)

3. A messenger will prepare the way for Him (Malachi 3:1)

4. He will be called Immanuel (Isaiah 7:14)

5. He will be rejected by His own people (Isaiah 53:3)

6. He will betrayed for 30 pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12)

7. He will be crucified with criminals (Isaiah 53:12)

8. His hands and feet will be pierced (Psalm 22:16)

9. Soldiers will gamble for His garments (Psalm 22:18)

10. He will remain silent while afflicted (Isaiah 53:7)

11. He will be buried with the rich (Isaiah 53:9)

12. He will be a sacrifice for our sin (Isaiah 53:5-12)

The evidence is undeniable and overwhelming that Jesus is the Messiah. He is who the scripture says He is. He is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the answer for whatever your need is today. All you have to do is call upon His name. Help is closer than you think!!!

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. (Jeremaih 33:3)
