Scripture for the Day (October 9, 2018)

He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed. (Proverbs 13:20)

Satan is a con man. A con man convinces his victim that he is telling the truth and that he can somehow put his prey into a higher position without working to attain it. Each year millions of people fall victim to “get rich quick” schemes, perpetrated by con men who, through their deception, are placed in a position of trust where the victim submits his will and resources to the con man. The end result is almost always destruction.

In the same way there are con men on earth, Satan was the chief “con angel.” He conned one-third of the heavenly host into believing that by following him, they would be better off than staying with God. So convincing was his con (lie) that these angels, who had spent eons of time seeing and experiencing the magnificence of God’s Heaven, aligned themselves with the deceiver and put their support behind him. In doing so, they followed in the rebellion led by Satan in which they ultimately lost.

The point I want to make here is this. Satan is the one who came up with the idea, through his pride, that he could be like God and have his throne on the sides of the north. He is the one who deceived his followers and he is the one who led the battle and fought against Michael, the archangel. But even though Satan was the instigator and the leader in the rebellion, every angel that was deceived was likewise cast down to earth and received the same judgment and sentence of future execution that Satan received.

And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (Revelation 12:7-9)

That brings us to this ultimate truth: Those who follow God receive God’s inheritance and those who follow Satan share in his judgment. You have to make the decision about who you will follow. There are only two choices:

SATAN – You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. (John 8:44)

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: (John 10:10)

JESUS – Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)

I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (John 10:10)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:16-17)

Company of fools or company of the wise? The decision is yours!!!
