Scripture for the Day – September 10, 2019

For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. (John 6:38)

Many people, including Christians, have a hard time relating to and defining God the Father. They try to look at what’s going on in the world and try to define Him. They read all kinds of books, including the Old Testament, and try to define Him. I understand all of that, but the simplest and most accurate way to really understand the Father is to look at the Son. When you see the Son, you have seen the Father.

Acts 10:38: How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

If you want to know what God is like and what He wants to be done in the earth, look at the life of Jesus. God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and with power to do good and to heal all who were oppressed of the devil.

John 5:19-20 (The Message Bible): So Jesus explained himself at length, “I’m telling you this straight. The Son can’t independently do a thing, only what he sees the Father doing. What the Father does, the Son does. The Father loves the Son and includes him in everything he is doing.”

John 8:29: And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.

John 12:49-50: For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken. 50 I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.

John 14:10: Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.

Jesus only said and did the things that pleased the Father, and the Father was with Him and everything that Jesus did was what God wanted.

So, if you want to do what pleases your Heavenly Father, just do what Jesus did!
