Scripture for the Day – June 30, 2020

2 Timothy 3:16-17 says: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

I was reading the most recent publication from the Lamb and Lion Ministries. It asked the question: Is the Bible really the inspired Word of God? The article then went on to describe how the World is viewing our Sacred Book, summarizing a Newsweek expose` with this quote: “The Bible is a very human book. It is full of flaws, contradictions, and theological disagreements.”

Not helping this viewpoint is the sense that “good” people and even seminary students are posting that the Bible is man’s search for God, and therefore it is a myth, legend, and superstition. Their claim is: “It’s not God’s revelation to man.”

Here are the key points of the L and L’s article. 1.) Throughout the Bible, from beginning to end, there is a unifying theme of God bringing man back into reconciliation with Him. 2.) Prophecy validates the Bible as the Word of God. 3.) There’s just no book in existence like the Bible. The Hindu Vedas, the Islamic Koran, the Buddhist writings, whatever religion — their holy books clearly are not inspired by God. 4.) We can trust that God’s Word is eternal.

“For all flesh is like grass, and its glory like a flower or grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls off, but the Word of the Lord endures forever.” (I Peter 1:25)

My takeaway from all of this is that as we get closer to Jesus’ return, the activities of Satan are picking up (I Peter 5:8); people are absolutely going bonkers in the natural and spiritual realms (Eph 4:14); and the Truth will be perceived as a lie and lies will be seen as truth (Rom 1:25 and I John 2:21).

In these last days, let us not be counted among those who compromise the Word of God, especially in the face of challenges and even bitterness and aggression against what the Word says. Remember, God said this would be the case in the era in which we live.

2 Tim 3: 1-9 says, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power.”

Don’t sacrifice your love for the Lord, and your love for others, for hate, bitterness and the love of self. Stay strong in Him!

Have a Strong Day in the Lord and His Word!!!
