Scripture for the Day – August 12, 2019
Woe (judgment is coming) to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and shrewd in their own sight! (Isaiah 5:20-21, ESV)
We are living in very dangerous and deceptive times! We are experiencing a spiritual attack that is so deceptive that most people don’t even recognize it. The full arsenal of the enemy is being unleashed on this nation which is a nation in a very weak position spiritually. The truth is being swallowed up by deceptive lies. Good is being called evil, and evil is being called good. Honor for all those in authority has been cast by the wayside. Darkness is being seen as light, and light is being seen as darkness. Personal judgment is rampant. Righteous spiritual discernment is being turned on its’ head and replaced with emotional arguments.
Did all this confusion and upheaval catch God off guard? Absolutely not! He wrote about it in His Word and warned us of what was coming. We just need to open our spiritual eyes and see what’s really happening. These events have nothing to do with one man, one political party, or one ideology. This is an all-out war against God and His anointed. But, be of good cheer! Rejoice! Hear the Word of the Lord and rejoice! Pray for all our leaders and pray for this nation that repentance and revival will come and our nation will be healed in the midst of all these trials. A return to God is the real answer!!!
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly (profane) men, turning the grace (the spiritual blessing and favor) of our God into lasciviousness (unbridled lust, shamelessness, insolence) and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. (Jude 1:4)
Who (by choice) changed (exchanged) the truth of God into (for) a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. (Romans 1:25)
Why do the heathen rage (in an uproar, in a confusion of voices, in a turmoil against God), and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands (of restraint) asunder, and cast away their cords (of control) from us. (Psalm 2:1-3)
Why the big noise, nations? Why the mean plots, peoples? Earth-leaders push for position, Demagogues and delegates meet for summit talks, The God-deniers, the Messiah-defiers: “Let’s get free of God! Cast loose from Messiah!” (Psalm 2:1-3. The Message Bible)
The enemy (Satan) never comes with a red suit and a pitch-fork. He comes as an angel of light. He comes to kill, steal, and destroy. He is the father of lies and he uses great confusion to muddy the waters. Underneath all the uproar and confusion is an all-out attack on God, His Word, and His people. You can always recognize it’s him when those things start being attacked. Wake up!! We are under attack!!
