Create in me a clean heart, Oh God; and renew a right spirit within me.
( Psalm 51:10 )

Written by Cheryl Henderson and John Rex

If there is one thing I have learned about God in all the years we have served Him, it is not about our who and our do. It is always a heart issue with God. He wants our whole heart and nothing less. My brother in law sent over this example of a woman after God’s heart. As Jesus sat in the Temple, near the Treasury, he watched people drop in their money as offerings. He observed the rich drop in very large amounts. When a poor widow came up, she only dropped in two little copper coins, equaling about one penny. Now, to the casual observers her gift was trivial, insignificant, even minor. Conversely, those who watched the rich put in large amounts, were impressed. In the natural, this makes sense. Often people honor the seemingly important person in a room, ignoring the poor, the humble, and the common.

HOWEVER, Jesus had a different opinion. Others only saw with their eyes. The glitter caught them and held their attention. Jesus could see with the heart. “I tell you, this poor widow put in more offering than all the others… she, poor as she is, put in all she had to live on.” Mark 12: 41-44.  So, what shall we learn? EVERY ONE OF US PLAYS ON AN EQUAL BASIS IN GOD’S KINGDOM. And, even the minor things that a humble person does counts as much as the works of a well-known, and applauded “hero” of the world.  ALL that matters is our heart. Let it be totally devoted to service of others. God’s eyes are never averted such that it goes unnoticed.
This widow stood tall. Follow her example. GIVE ALL!
