Scripture for the Day – October 22, 2019

He (Jesus) is the sole expression of the glory of God [the Light-being, the out-raying or radiance of the divine], and He (Jesus) is the perfect imprint and very image of [God’s] nature, upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty word of power. (Hebrews 1:3, AMPC)

We have written about the goodness of God for nearly a year now. It is a subject that is so important to us because we believe that our faith is ether strong or weak based on how good we believe God is. I was reading Hebrews 1:3 today and it brought back this subject once again. It reminded me of many similar scriptures such as the following:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)

No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. (John 1:18)

I and my Father are one. (John 10:30)

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? (John 14:9)

Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: (Colossians 1:15)

In whom the god of this world (Satan) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (2 Corinthians 4:4)

Many people are aware that I spent years in law enforcement. I am very aware of the good cop/bad cop interrogation technique. Many of you are aware of this technique too through television shows and movies. The sad thing is that many people (including Christians) look at Jesus the Son, and God the Father, as Good cop/Bad cop. They tend to look at Jesus and God as two separate entities which is not Biblical. They are one!!! Jesus is God and God is Jesus!!!

I know that the Trinity is hard for our mind to comprehend, but that is just the way it is. There are three separate entities (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost) but they are all one.

The Old Testament is full of examples where men of God did not fully understand God and they were continuously trying to get a better picture of who He really was. Moses asked to see God and God had His goodness pass before him (Exodus 33:9). Job’s friends thought they had a handle on it and God said they did not know what they were talking about (Job 42:7). Job himself said that he thought he knew God but later admitted he did not have a clue (Job 42:5).

I can just envision God looking at us and wondering why we are so hard-headed. He finally sent His son, as an exact representation of Himself, and we still did not get it. They are not separate. They are one. They are not good cop and bad cop. If you have seen the Son, you have seen the Father. If there is anything in your theological belief system about the Father that you do not see in the Son then there is something wrong with your theology. A house divided cannot stand!!!

God is good and He is good all the time!!!!
