Scripture for the Day -October 2, 2020

Romans 8:37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

I think we can all agree that 2020 has been a most unusual year in more ways than one. Hurricanes, fires, covid 19, sheltering in our homes, no church services, and so on and so on. Wow! We still have a few months of this year to go and an election to do. That in itself is a Big Deal!

As Ed and I walk our path in the midst of all the goings on I am reminded of so many people in the Bible who went through so very much to serve God, to be obedient to God’s Word and the call on their lives.

David went through many years of being chased by Saul before he could ever take the throne. Joseph went through the pit to get to the palace. Think about the disciples and what each one went through to walk with Jesus and serve him even after he left this earth. Think about what Jesus went through on the cross.

The fact of the matter is that the only way to get over the mountain in your life is to go through. I love what I heard Joyce Meyer say, (Cheryl’s paraphrase) everyone loves to have a testimony, but no one wants to go through the test, so that just leaves you with the monys!

The hour in which we live is unprecedented. But think about it, God chose you and I to be here for such a time as this! This is a hard time and an exciting time all at once. You and I have great opportunities to share Jesus, the love of God and His Word with others. Let’s don’t miss what God is doing in our midst as we go through life.

Someone called me the other day and said,” hey girlfriend what are you doing?” I responded with, “I’m just going through the go throughs.” That means I am doing what I know how to do on a day to day basis. It sounds mundane but I can’t tell you how many times God shows up in the middle of
going through the go throughs.

I encourage you to go through! God is on our side! He is fighting our battles. (Deut 1:3) He will give us peace. (Isaiah 26:3) He is our shield and the lifter of our head. (Psalm 3:3) He is our refuge. (Deut 33:237) He is faithful. (II Thes 3:3) He will supply all our need (Phil 4:19) He orders our steps. (Psalm 37:23) He restores our soul. (Psalm 23:3) His Word is settled in Heaven. (Psalm 119:89) He is our strong tower. (Proverbs 18:10)

Ed and I pray for you as you go through your go throughs. We love you and we are expecting God to show up in the midst of what you are going through.
