A Nugget from New Life Network

Scripture for the Day (February 5, 2016)

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthans 13:13, NLT)

The Bible says in Romans 5:5, “Because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” God’s love is in our hearts and if we will allow it to control us there isn’t anything we can’t accomplish. If we let love control us, then we are letting God control us because the Bible says in I John 4:8 and 16 that, “God is love.” How do we know we can accomplish anything? Because according to I Corinthians 13:8, “Love never fails.” So you can love your way to victory.

Mark 11:23-24 says, “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” In the very next verse, Jesus said in Mark 11:25, “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.” In other words, if you have something against someone, you’re not walking in love with them, and that will cause failure in your prayer life.

But the God kind of love, never fails. You can have whatever you ask for if you believe. Believing is having faith, and using your faith, and the Bible says in Galatians 5:6, “that faith works, by love.” When I begin to think about someone who has wronged me or has said something bad about me, or I begin to think unkind thoughts or am about to say something demeaning about them, love rises up on the inside of me and won’t let me do it. The Bible says in II Corinthians 5:14, “For the love of Christ constrains us;” To walk in love means to walk in the Spirit, because Galatians 5:22 says, “Love is a fruit of the Spirit.” God wants us to grow. We can grow in love because love is a fruit and fruit grows. And by showing the right spirit and loving people, we’ll reap rich rewards.

God is love and He lives in you; so turn love (God) loose on the world and watch how God can bring victory into your life!

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

(1 Corinthians 13:4-7, NLT)
