Scripture for the Day – December 19, 2019

Romans 12:2: And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Our daily scripture verse says to not be conformed to this world. Conformed means to act in accordance with the prevailing standards, attitudes, practices, etc., of society. This world has no standards, but it does have bad attitudes and evil practices, and it wants to conform you into its mold.

The Message Bible says, “Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking.”

The New Living Translation says, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

If you want to change your behavior, you must change the way you think. That’s when you will begin to know God’s will for your life.

Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

That’s why Romans 12:2 says to be transformed by renewing your mind. You renew your mind with the Word of God and that is the truth you are to think on. Stop thinking like the world thinks and you’ll stop being conformed to this world.

Transform means to change in form, appearance, and structure; metamorphose — like a tadpole changes to a frog or a caterpillar to a butterfly. As we begin to line our thinking up with the Word of God, and not with this world, we will see a transformation take place.

Be ye transformed!!!
