A Nugget from New Life Network

Scripture for the Day (July 22, 2016)

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 36:26)

What is a “change agent?” A change agent is simply someone who helps bring about change. In the business and political world, that person is usually a visionary, entrepreneur, builder, and/or person that thinks outside the box. I have been fortunate to work with several of those type business people over the years. There are several things that I have learned about change agents in our business and political world that you need to know.

The personality of a change agent is quite different than most. They think out loud. They dream out loud. Some people have problems with that because if that original thought or dream does not come about exactly like it was first spoken they think the change agent lied. Listen, there was only one person that wrote His message in stone and that was God. Change agents are not God. What people have to realize is that things happen along the way that may require the original dream to be tweaked, modified or abandoned. It has nothing to do with the character of the dreamer.

Change agents also think outside of the box. I spent several years of my professional career leading major Operational Audits for the US Postal Service. We would take a team of Postal Inspectors into a major facility like New York, NY or Philadelphia, PA and look at ways to conduct operations more efficiently. We were able to save millions of dollars because our team thought outside the box. We were not bound by the old ways of doing business. We ruffled a lot of feathers, but we made a lot of progress also.

Look around you today. Would you not agree that we need some changes? We need changes in our personal lives. We need changes in our churches. We need changes in our businesses. We need changes in our government. We need a lot of changes and that will not happen without change agents.

Over the years we have worked with a lot of people addicted to alcohol and/or drugs. The one thing that we have found is that the beginning of freedom will never start until that person is willing to admit that they need help and that they need change. The old quote is very true which says, “The definition of insanity is to keep on doing whatever you’re doing and expect things to change.”

I was addicted to alcohol at one time in my life. I started drinking when I was 16 years old and drank until I was 35 years old. I had already been told by my doctor that my liver was damaged because of my alcohol intake but I kept on drinking anyway. That all ended one night at a church altar when my wife and I dedicated our lives to the Lord. Jesus delivered me that night and changed what I could not change on my own. He changed my thirst for alcohol into a thirst for His Word.

Jesus can change your life also. He is not a respecter of persons. We encourage you to reach out to Him today and cast all your cares on Him for He does truly care for you. He is the Master Change Agent. He cares for this country also so pray for our country that we would be open to the changes that we need.
