Scripture for the Day (June 15, 2018)

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. (Romans 5:5)

God’s love is in our hearts, and if we will allow it to control us there isn’t anything we can’t accomplish. If we let love control us, then we are letting God control us. Because the Bible says in I John 4:8, “God is love.” How do we know we can accomplish anything? Because according to I Corinthians 13:8, “Love never fails.” So, you can love your way to victory!!!

Mark 11:23-24 says, “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

In the very next verse, Jesus said in Mark 11:25, “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.” In other words, if you have something against someone you’re not walking in love with them, and that will cause failure in your prayer life. But the God kind of love never fails. You can have whatever you ask for if you believe. Believing is having faith and using your faith. The Bible says in Galatians 5:6, “that faith works, by love.”

We have prayed for thousands of people over the years and the one thing that hinders people’s prayers the most is unforgiveness. When we are praying with someone, and there appears to be no progress, the first thing we ask them is, “are you harboring any unforgiveness for anyone?” Nine times out of ten that is the blockage and once that is dealt with God can work.

When I personally begin to think about someone who has wronged me, or has said something bad about me, or I begin to think unkind thoughts, or I am about to say something demeaning about them, love rises up on the inside of me and it will not let me. The Bible in 2 Corinthians 5:14 says, “For the love of Christ constrains us.”

To walk in love means to walk in the Spirit, because Galatians 5:22 says, “Love is a fruit of the Spirit.” God wants all of us to grow. We can grow in love because love is a fruit and fruit grows. And by showing the right spirit and loving people we will reap rich rewards.

God is love and He lives in you; so turn love (God) loose on the world.
