Scriptures for the Day (May 1,2018)

Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. (Zechariah 4:6)

My wife received an interesting phone call several weeks ago from a young girl in another state. She shared with my wife that she attended an evangelical church and she and several of her friends wanted to start a deliverance ministry. My wife asked her if she had ever been baptized in the Spirit and did she speak in tongues. She said no. My wife then said this to her. “What you are telling me is you and your friends want to face demonic spirits in your own flesh. I would not advise you to do that”.

My wife then asked this young girl if she wanted to be baptized in the Spirit. She said yes and as my wife prayed for her over the phone she was baptized in the Spirit and began speaking in tongues. My wife then told her that now she should go back and lay hands on all her friends and get them baptized in the Spirit and after that pray and ask God whether they were to proceed with this deliverance ministry.

The more years we are in the ministry the more we see the absolute and critical need for the Holy Spirit. The need has always been there, it’s just that we have to get to the point where we aren’t so arrogant to think we can do it in our own strength. If Jesus needed the Holy Spirit to cast out devils, who are we to think we can do that in our own might and power?

But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. (Matthew 12:28)

We cannot even be saved without the Holy Spirit. We cannot know the truth without the Holy Spirit. We cannot receive power except through the Holy Spirit. We cannot be baptized in the Holy Spirit except through the Holy Spirit. Give it up folks! Lay it all down! We need the Holy Spirit to accomplish what Jesus wants us to accomplish on this earth. We need to get over all our arrogance and pride. We need Him!!

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1:8)

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. (John 16:13)

I read a testimony the other day about a Pastor that never wanted to be a Pastor. He ran from it every time the suggestion ever came up. He was a musician and he wanted to stay a musician. One day he and a close friend went to a worship conference together and as they sat in the conference this man that was running from being a Pastor heard the Holy Spirit say to him, “Why are you ignoring me?” He told the Holy Spirit he was not ignoring Him. The Holy Spirit then repeated the question again to him, “Why are you ignoring me?” Again, this musician insisted that he wasn’t ignoring Him. Then his friend, who knew nothing about this dialogue with the Holy Spirit, turned to his musician friend and said, “Dude, I know this is going to sound really weird, but the Holy Spirit just told me to ask you why you’re ignoring Him?” That musician is now a Pastor of a very powerful church. You need the Holy Spirit!!!! I need the Holy Spirit!!! We all need the Holy Spirit!!! Stop ignoring Him!!!
