Scripture for the Day (April 23,2018)

Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: (Daniel 2:20-21)

When you look at what is happening in our own world today it is amazing to see how many people are fighting against God and expecting to win. How do they fight against God you may ask? Well, when they fight against His Word they are fighting against Him. Some of it is due to ignorance because people have no knowledge of the Word of God. And then again, some of it is due to rebellion because people that do have knowledge of the Word choose to disobey God’s Word because they think they know better than God.

The Word of God to me is like a detailed job description for life and success. Our job is to follow His instructions and if we do that, things will go well with us. If we don’t follow His Word, then things will not go well with us and that is true for believers and non-believers.

One of the main things that gets us off track is the way we look at things versus how God looks at things. We always want to look at outward appearances. God doesn’t do that. He looks at the heart. Until you truly understand that one truth you will always think you know better than He does and you will always be fighting God. There are many great examples in the Bible. King David is a prime example. His family saw him as a shepherd boy, but God saw him as a King. David, even as King, committed adultery and murder and yet God said he was a man after His own heart. How could that be??? That does not make sense to us. It was because God looked at David’s heart and saw what he really was and what God had anointed him to be.

David would have been crucified in our present world environment and would have never accomplished what God intended for him to accomplish if we had our say about his outcome.

Another great example is you and me. Yes, that’s right. You and me!!! Talk about God not making His decisions on outward appearances!! But God commendeth His love toward us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

Would you have sent your son to die for us??? I don’t think so!!! But God saw something beyond the sin and that is why we need to be very careful in our judgement of other people, especially those that God has anointed and put in authority over us. It’s just amazing to me to watch people fight against the Word of God and then be consumed by that same Word. For example, judging brings judgment on the judger, dishonor brings dishonor on the one that dishonors, and snares bring snares on the very ones that set the snares. The very thing that accusers attempt to accuse someone else of will eventually come back to bite them. You are seeing that played out today before your very eyes.

Consider the following scriptures:

Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood. He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made. His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate. (Psalm 7:14-16)

The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken. The Lord is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. (Psalm 9:15-16)

For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. (Psalm 75:6-7)

Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee? Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin. (John 19:10-11)

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; (1 Timothy 1-3)

Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. (1 Peter 2:13-17)

Do not be deceived, God is not dead. His Word and His anointed are still alive and active and they both will accomplish what they were sent to do. We would all be wise to follow God and understand that His ways are higher than our ways.
