Scripture for the Day (August 17, 2017)
Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. (Isaiah 60:1-2)
If you haven’t noticed lately, the world is in a mess! Hate and violence are rampant. Wonder where that comes from? People are running to and fro and they are mad about everything. Even the most intelligent can’t agree on an answer.
Guess what, we have the answer! The answer is contained in us. It is in earthen vessels. The answer is Jesus!
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. (2 Corinthians 4:6-7)
There are things happening in the spiritual that are going unnoticed by the world. God is on the move in the midst of all the chaos. The following link is just one example of a recent meeting held by Marilyn Hickey in Pakistan where over one million Muslims attended. That’s right, over one million Muslims!!
Marilyn Hickey is an 85 year old Bible teaching grandmother from Denver, CO and the Muslims in Pakistan call her “Mom” and the “Mother of Pakistan”. Talk about God’s favor!!!
But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, (Romans 5:20, NIV)
There is an increasing hunger and thirst out there for God but Satan is trying his best to keep it under wraps with his displays of hate and violence! We need to ask ourselves, what are we doing to shine?
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (John 8:12)
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16)
Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain. (Philippians 2:14-16)
It’s time to shine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
