A Nugget from New Life Network

Scripture for the Day (June 8, 2017)

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. (Lamentations 3:2-24)

Expectations are powerful things. They affect how we think, how we act, and how we interact with the world around us. Expectations affect every aspect of our lives, and flow naturally from what we believe about our current reality. These beliefs come from what we have come to understand about how things work, and are greatly influenced by our past experiences.

Sometimes, when presented with new information, our expectations change. The first time I ever experienced the manifest presence of God it changed me forever. That experience presented me with new information, greatly adjusted my perception of God’s reality, and my expectations changed accordingly. When talking about Biblical or spiritual issues, it is important to be open to new information – a fresh revelation of what God intends for us to receive through Christ. Just because we have not experienced something, does not mean it is not available to us.

Listen to the heart of the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 1:17-19 (Amplified Bible).

[I always pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son]. And [I pray] that the eyes of your heart [the very center and core of your being] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that you will know and cherish the hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints (God’s people), and [so that you will begin to know] what the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His [active, spiritual] power is in us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength.

What is your hope? What are you expecting from God’s incomparably great power today? Personally, I am looking to God for fresh revelation, newly updated information about what God would like to do in our midst – fresh bread from God’s bountiful table made just for us.

Let us all inspect our expectations. I want to make sure I am ready to hear and receive from God daily because His compassion and mercies are new every morning. When we spend time with God in prayer, or reading His Word, or when we go to church, what are we expecting? We should be expecting to hear God! We should be expecting to see a move of God! We should be expecting to see people saved, healed and delivered!

Are you expecting???
