Scripture of the Day

The sun rose above him as he passed Peniel, and he was limping. Genesis 32:31

From “Connect with God Devotional-Jentezen Franklin”

Jacob didn’t know who he was until God told him. All his life he’d been labeled a “deceiver,” until the Lord explained to him that he was “a prince…with God.” (Ge 32:28). Notice those words “with God.” God was in essence saying, “From now on Jacob, you’re just my puppet. Unless I pull the strings, you’ll fall over. I’m the source of every good idea
you’ll ever have and every blessing you’ll ever receive. Don’t forget that!”

Becoming a Christian is the work of a moment. Learning to depend on God is the work of a lifetime. That’s why you can walk with Him, yet still limp in certain areas. Your limp is what keeps you from “believing your own press.” It’s what makes you say, “If God can use me, He can use anybody.” It reminds you that you’re still a work in progress; it forces
you to lean more on God and less on yourself.

In a way, Paul had a limp. Listen, “To keep me from becoming conceited…there was given me a Thorn in my flesh…three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness'” (2Co 12:7-9).

Here’s a word to you who’ve spent your entire life trying to hide your limp, or deny it. Your limp, like Jacob’s, is just a testimony to what God had brought you through; it proves that HE’S TOUCHED YOU!
