Scripture for the Day (September 5, 2016)

Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; (2 Peter 1:12-13)

If you have read any of our devotionals you know that one constant truth we promote is that “God is Good”. We cannot bring that to your remembrance enough because it is so crucial to your faith and well being. There are all kind of strange doctrines out there that promote God in a very different light. Do not be deceived! Pay attention to the truth (the Word of God) and not the doctrines of men or demons:

Acts 10:38 says, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”

Jesus said in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

The two New Testament verses above clearly state that God does good, and Satan or the devil does evil. Doctrines that shift the blame for evil from Satan to God will sow doubt in your mind and will negatively effect your faith and prayers.

James 1:13, 14, and 17 says, “Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”

In other words, James clearly says that only good things come down from God and He does not change! Hebrews 13:8 says, “He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever.”

I John 4:7-8 says, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” God is love, that’s what He is. Love is His very nature and everything that comes from Him is love and is motivated by love. That’s why it’s so important to pay attention to the life of Jesus. He said and did only what His Father said to do; as you can see from Acts 10:38 that was all good. He didn’t put sickness on anybody. He healed, fed, and He even wept with people.

Ephesians 5:1 says, “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.” What are we to imitate? Love, God wouldn’t ask us to imitate something that He’s not. You see, there are two kingdoms with two forces at work in those kingdoms; there is the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light. I John 1:5 says, “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” Colossians 1:13 says, “God has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.” God is love and He sent His only son to set you free so you could come into His kingdom of love and be set free from the devil’s kingdom of darkness.

It is vitally important that you know the heart of God! His thoughts toward you are for good and not for evil (Jeremiah 29:11). His desire is for you to prosper and walk in health (3 John 1:2). His challenge to you is for you to choose life and not death that you and your seed will prosper (Deuteronomy 30:19). Don’t be mislead by the slick advertising from the enemy that will always try to shift blame to God. Know your God, and know your enemy!

God is Good, All the time!!!
