Scripture for the Day – June 14, 2019

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2)

The word “conform” means “to act in accordance or harmony; to comply with”. Transform means “to cause to change”.

Romans 12:2 in the New Living Translation says, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

We as Christians don’t want to be conformed to this world. But how are we to become transformed into that new person? God’s Word tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, which is changing the way we think. Someone might say, “My thinking is okay.” Well, if that were true you wouldn’t need to have your mind renewed. The world is always pressuring us to act in accordance with or in compliance to its way of thinking. It’s called peer pressure, and it doesn’t stop after you become an adult. Instead of allowing the world to form our thoughts let’s allow the Word of God to form our thoughts, which in turn will transform or cause us to change.

Romans 8:29: For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. To be transformed is to be conformed to Jesus.

II Corinthians 3:18: But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. The Amplified Bible says, “And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.”

We are formed into the image of Jesus by the mold of the Word of God, which is Jesus. (John 1:1 and 14)

Romans 13:14: But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

Galatians 4:19: My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you.

Allow the Word to transform you and form Christ in you!!!
