Scripture for the Day (March 18, 2016)

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. (Mark 11:23-24)

There is a key principal given to us by Jesus in the Bible about how to deal with the mountains in our lives. WE HAVE TO SPEAK TO THE MOUNTAIN!!!

Do you remember how Jesus responded when He was tempted by the Devil in the wilderness? And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. (Matthew 4:3-7)

The devil kept on trying to tempt Jesus and His response was the same each time. Jesus spoke the Word of God to the mountain.

Another example is David and Goliath. Goliath was a Philistine giant (a mountain) that needed to be removed. I Samuel 17:45-48 says, “Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. Then all this assembly shall know that the LORD does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the LORD’s, and He will give you into our hands.”

The words that you and I speak are very important. God created everything with the Words out of His mouth. He made us in His image and placed life and death in the power of our tongues. The most powerful, and at the same time the most unruly weapon we have is our tongue. We can gain eternity with our tongue; we can cast out demons with our tongue; we can speak blessings and life with our tongue; or we can curse God; and speak death and curses with our tongue.

What mountain are you facing? Have you spoken to it? Our suggestion is to look at the examples given to us in the Bible. Jesus prayed and fasted before He was led into the wilderness. Jesus was the Word of God so He was already full of God’s Word. David was a worshipper of God and a man after God’s own heart that knew and believed the promises of God. We are not talking about a quick fix formula or the magic of speaking certain memorized words. We are talking about speaking the Word of God in faith. We are talking about speaking words that you have in your heart and believe. We are talking about the Promises of God that relate to your mountain. Those are the faith filled words that move mountains!

What is your mountain? Have you spoken to it?

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words. (Proverbs 18:21, Amplified Bible)
