Scripture for the Day (July 21, 2015)

For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. (Acts 4:20)

If you are a born-again Christian, you immediately know that there are no secret agents for God. That is against our nature and against our biblical calling.

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? (Romans 10:14)

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17)

Things have not changed much since the Book of Acts when the Apostles were told to stop speaking or teaching in the name of Jesus. We have the same thing today with people saying your religious belief is personal and you should keep it quiet. The Apostles answered that question in Acts with this reply: But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. (Acts 4:19-20)

We are instructed by Jesus himself in Mark 16:15-16: And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

The Bible says if you are not born-again you cannot even see the Kingdom of God. That is why some people see Christians as judgmental and hateful when in reality they are operating in love by not staying quiet. It would be like having a secret cure for cancer but keeping it to yourself because it’s personal. We have a secret that is so much more important! It is so good that we have to share it. We just can’t keep it in!

Be encouraged all you fellow messengers of the Gospel. Your reward will come if you faint not.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (Romans 1:16)

But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts. (I Thessalonians 2:4)

For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. (Ephesians 6:20)
