Scripture of The Day

”And the scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness” – and he was called a friend of God. (James 2:23)

Three precious friends came to my house tonight. One of them did a lot of cooking and brought all the food. As we broke bread together, we laughed, had great conversation, and enjoyed the delicious food our friend had prepared for us. We talked about all the times we have been together and the things we have learned about life and also about how fast our lives have flown by. We also talked about the times we live in and how much we need God as we move forward.

We are unique in that one of us is moving to another town after 40 years, my husband passed away in January, another is trying to maintain a business in these crazy times, and the other one has just retired. We are all walking out new roads in our lives. We are all desperate to hear God for what is next for all of us. How He wants us to help build the Kingdom. True friends are hard to find. These girls are just that, true friends.  Our conversation reminded me of our scripture of the day. (James 2:23) God called Abraham friend. Another scripture is in John 15:15, “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friend, for everything that I learned from my father I have made known to you.”

I just want you to know that God calls you His friend. In one translation it says that God calls us His most intimate friends. He tells you everything and you can tell Him everything. He sticks closer than a brother and He is always looking out for you. He is a true friend. Take time for him today.
