Psalm 1:1-3, KJV: Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Commentary:

The people who you closely associate with (including family, friends, business associates), and the books you read (especially the Bible), have a direct bearing on your success or failure. There are three major times in your life when you will probably need to change close associates. First, when you get saved; second, when you get baptized in the Holy Spirit; and third, when you start doing what God has called you to do. But don’t worry. God has a replacement bench that is full of new friends, and a new family, that will help you grow in your faith and speak life to you and yours. And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life (Matthew 19:29, KJV).
